1. Location and History
The alabaster, like the old-fashioned, or plaster stone, is scratched with the nail. Its crystalline system is monoclinic. This fine grain variety is extracted from Spanish, English or Tuscan quarries. Alabaster is used as a decorative stone. the first scupltural pieces that are known come from Egypt, China, India and the Middle East, places where around 4000 a.C .
